Hey there,
How's it going? I hope everything in your world is well.
Before I move on to the main part of this email, I just wanted to mention some personal news.
We lost a dear friend to cancer recently. Bec was lovely, a bright light in our lives, and we miss her terribly. I am just so grateful that we got to see her before she passed away, and that we got to tell her how much we loved her.
Should You Self-Publish, Go Traditional — or Both?
If you've ever tried to research publishing routes, you'll know how quickly it gets overwhelming. There's loads of information out there, but it's scattered, contradictory, and half of it is written by someone trying to sell you a course.
So I've teamed up with the brilliant Dr Sanjida O'Connell — award-winning author and writing mentor — and together we're running a 90-minute online masterclass that cuts through the noise.
Here's what we're covering
Sanjida takes you through how traditional publishing actually works — agents, submission, acquisition, editing, production, all of it. She'll also demystify contracts and rights, so you actually understand what territory, audio, translation and screen rights mean before you sign anything.
I'll be covering self-publishing and hybrid routes: getting your manuscript ready, cover design, interior layout, choosing your publishing platforms, the Amazon exclusivity debate, and building an author brand that works for you long-term.
And we'll finish with a live Q&A — so bring your questions.
What you'll get out of it
Here's something worth saying upfront: traditional and self-publishing aren't rivals. They're just different business models, and each suits different books and different writers. Plenty of authors use both. The goal of this masterclass is to help you figure out which path makes sense for your book and your goals.
Afterwards you'll get the recording to rewatch, plus a bonus PDF with a full self-publishing walkthrough, a step-by-step guide to Amazon's publishing process, and everything you need to know about finding and submitting to an agent.
This one's for you if:
- You're a debut writer trying to figure out your options
- You're traditionally published and wondering about self-publishing
- You're self-publishing and want to get your head around agents and rights
- You just want a straight-talking overview with no hard sell
